Anyone who visits Cambodia will quickly learn that you’ll find a non-profit around nearly every corner. Not all are created equally though, and it takes a commitment and resilience along with sound practices and a meaningful vision to truly effect change. That’s why we want to showcase our partner Sustainable Cambodia that we visit each time we cycle through the town of Pursat.
We've partnered with Green Sail Croatia in Split, who is setting the standards for sustainable tourism by promoting recycling and educational programs along coastal communities, seas and oceans.
We’re super excited about our nature-based adventure in Croatia, traversing the country from Zagreb to Dubrovnik. Along the way in Split, we’ll spend time with our community partner Green Sail for an EcoWalk to learn about the ways that tourism and ocean conservation intersect and how we as travelers can do our part to keep a healthy environment.
Fair trade is a common theme in food these days, but what about in clothing? We've partnered with a fabulous organization in Cambodia, Dorsu, whose motto "Buy Better, Travel Often, Be You" couldn't be more aligned with Traverse. Their eco-savvy clothing line brings both employment and pride to the local economy, and we are super excited to visit their facility on our Cycle Cambodia-Vietnam itinerary. We interviewed Ellen at Dorsu and learned about what ethical fashion really means in the context of Cambodia.
In an earlier post we introduced Barrio Planta Project, our community partner on the Yoga + Surf Nicaragua trip. We had a chance to talk to the founder, Dyani Makous, for a in-depth look at the project and we're so excited to volunteer with them!
When we look for a community partner, there are a few things we know. They need to be part of the local community serving current needs. We want a partner that is cultivating growth in people or the planet (or both!). Barrio Planta Project, a supplementary education program serving kids in the San Juan del Sur community, was our perfect fit for November’s Yoga & Surf trip in Nicaraga
