Welcome to Dominica, the Caribbean’s Nature Island.

Lush volcanic mountains, rainforest-clad valleys, waterfalls, medicinal plants, and brilliantly blue waters make this under-visited island feel worlds away from the typical Caribbean getaway. This thoughtfully curated retreat combines daily movement, immersive cultural experiences, nourishing farm-to-table cuisine, and a remarkable range of outdoor adventures. Stay at a beautiful eco-lodge perched above Dominica’s southwest coast, surrounded by tropical gardens, an infinity pool, and sweeping ocean views, with much of your food sourced from the property’s own permaculture farm.

Between movement and moments of relaxation, your days might include snorkeling and kayaking in the Soufriere-Scotts Head Marine Reserve, rainforest hikes, natural hot springs, a Caribbean cooking class, herbal medicine, or the challenging trek to Boiling Lake. Along the way, connect with local communities, learn about Dominica’s history and living traditions, and discover why this extraordinary island has earned its reputation as one of the Caribbean’s wildest and most rewarding destinations.

Create your own Dominica Custom Dates retreat year-round, with daily yoga and nature-based activities.

Starting at $4495 per person.

WHY THIS TRIP?

Dominica isn't the Caribbean you may have imagined, and that’s exactly why we love it. There are no endless rows of mega-resorts or crowded beaches here. Instead, the island offers something much wilder: volcanic peaks covered in rainforest, villages shaped by generations of Caribbean traditions, protected marine environments, and an extraordinary biodiversity that has earned Dominica its nickname, the Nature Island. It's a place where you can spend the morning hiking through cloud forest, the afternoon swimming through a volcanic gorge, and the evening sharing local food and stories with the people who call the island home.

This retreat gives you the freedom to experience that nature at your own pace. Start your mornings with intentional movement then choose your activity, from kayaking and hiking to soaking in natural hot springs to swimming through Titou Gorge. Then, slow things down with a medicinal herbs and teas experience, a Caribbean cooking class, time in the tropical gardens, or a quiet afternoon beside the infinity pool.

Just as important are the opportunities to connect with Dominica beyond its landscapes. Learn about the island's history and eco-tourism efforts, visit a biodiverse family farm, and meet local community leaders to gain insight into the challenges and aspirations shaping Dominica today.

With daily movement, fresh island cuisine, meaningful cultural experiences, and a setting designed for both adventure and restoration, this is a retreat where nature isn't simply the backdrop - it's the reason you're here.

Travel with purpose. Every Traverse Journeys departure includes a contribution to a carefully selected Community Partner, supporting local organizations creating meaningful impact in the destinations we visit. For this trip, your booking supports the Jungle Bay Community Fund, which supports initiatives benefiting local communities while giving you the opportunity to learn more about Dominica's history, eco-tourism efforts, and the people shaping the island's future.
