Soak, slow down and reconnect through Iceland's geothermal waters, including a geothermal lagoon and the Blue Lagoon, with time for sauna, hot tubs, horseback riding and simply taking in the landscape

Iceland is a place that makes it easy to pay attention. Fire and ice shape the landscape, geothermal water rises from beneath the earth, waterfalls cut through green valleys, and the Atlantic crashes against black sand beaches. This 8-day Iceland Adventure Retreat invites you to experience that landscape fully, with adventure, connection, and space to reset woven into the journey.

From Reykjavík, you'll travel through the Golden Circle, exploring Þingvellir National Park, the geothermal wonders of Geysir and the powerful Gullfoss waterfall, with a soak in a geothermal lagoon and lunch inside a family-run tomato greenhouse along the way. From there, you'll follow Iceland's South Coast, visiting Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss waterfalls, walking along the dramatic black sands of Reynisfjara, and spending time in the coastal town of Vík.

Then we'll go deeper into the Icelandic Highlands with a full-day Super Jeep adventure through Þórsmörk, crossing glacial rivers and traveling beneath some of Iceland's most spectacular glaciers and volcanic landscapes. You'll explore Stakkholtsgjá canyon and Gígjökull, an outlet glacier of Eyjafjallajökull, while learning about the forces that shaped this extraordinary part of the country.

But this isn't simply an adventure itinerary. Throughout the journey, retreat leaders Kim Richter and Jeri Schlickberndwill weave breathwork, movement, mindset work, reflection, and conversation into the rhythm of each day. Rather than following a rigid workshop schedule, they'll respond to the landscape, activities, weather, and energy of the group, creating opportunities to slow down, reconnect, and experience each adventure more fully.

There is also plenty of time to simply enjoy being in Iceland: soaking in geothermal waters, relaxing in a sauna or hot tub, riding an Icelandic horse across the countryside, enjoying locally grown food, or sitting quietly with the landscape. We'll finish with a soak at the Blue Lagoon and a farewell dinner, a chance to reflect on the journey, the connections you've made, and what you want to carry home with you.

This is an Iceland adventure with a retreat woven through it: wild landscapes, meaningful experiences, embodied practices, and the space to step outside your everyday rhythm for a while.

why this trip?

A retreat shaped by the elements. Some destinations invite you to slow down. Iceland practically insists on it.

There is something about standing beside a waterfall, watching steam rise from the earth, crossing a glacial river in a Super Jeep, or looking out over an enormous black-sand coastline that puts everyday life into a different perspective. The landscape is powerful enough to pull you out of your head and into the present moment.

We've designed this retreat around that idea.

Adventure gives you the experience. Retreat gives you the space to process it. Each day combines active exploration with opportunities to pause, reflect, move, breathe, and connect. Kim and Jeri's practices aren't a separate program layered onto the itinerary. Instead, they're woven into the journey, responding to the energy of the group and the experiences we're having together.

Their complementary approaches bring something different to the retreat. Kim's breathwork creates space to settle into the body, release tension, and explore what surfaces through conscious breathing, while Jeri brings mindset, energy work, and spiritual practices that encourage greater awareness and intention. Together, they create an environment that is warm, approachable, and open to wherever each person happens to be.

And Iceland provides an extraordinary setting for that work.

You'll move through landscapes shaped by fire and ice, experience geothermal water in several different ways, eat food grown in the country's unique environment, and meet people who have built lives around this powerful landscape. You'll hike, soak, ride, explore, laugh, share meals, and have plenty of moments when the best thing to do is simply stop and look around.

The result is a retreat that doesn't ask you to leave adventure behind in order to find stillness. Instead, the adventure becomes part of the retreat.

You may come for the waterfalls, glaciers, black-sand beaches, geothermal pools, and wild landscapes. You may leave with a little more clarity, a few new connections, and a renewed sense of what happens when you give yourself permission to step outside your normal rhythm.

Travel with Purpose. Every Traverse Journeys departure includes a contribution to a carefully selected Community Partner, supporting organizations creating meaningful impact in the destinations we visit.

Kim Richter and Jeri Schlickbernd bring two complementary perspectives to the retreat experience. Kim is a breathwork facilitator and holistic coach whose warm, intuitive approach helps create a welcoming space for exploration, while Jeri is a mindset coach and facilitator who works with energy, spiritual practices, and tools for greater awareness and intention.

Together, they create a dynamic retreat experience that balances breathwork, mindset, movement, reflection, and connection. Their approach is flexible and responsive rather than prescriptive, allowing the practices to evolve naturally alongside the adventures we're experiencing in Iceland.

Kim and Jeri bring a genuine enthusiasm for creating meaningful group experiences - and for helping people step outside their usual routines, try something new, and see what becomes possible when they do.
